Review of Star Trek Beyond (2016) by Devo-Nc — 21 Aug 2016
We can assume the enterprise has gone 'beyond' where no man has gone before. At it's core, the Chris Pine strain resonates a dynamic push and pull with invigorating action and adventure. There is no bounce and jive this time.
This one narrates a deeper, hollower and boring sentiment of the story's core. Instead of exploring a grand adventure of emotionally great importance, we get a variety of stoic performances in a stoic narrative where it seems the toughest roads travelled have already been endeavoured.
And here we have something crafted as filler so that audiences can be reminded that this thing is still going. This is a show-off movie, there is nothing here to see, just a weaker episode in the day in the life.
As we have seen in the original sequels and Tv shows before, the deeper this universe is explored, the more boring and dry it becomes. Star Trek Beyond left my mouth salty dry.
