The story starts off with George Kirk played by Chris Hemsworth who sacrifices his life to save his wife and newborn son James T. Kirk. It is great to know that Captain Kirk was the son of Thor...BADASS! Many years later, he grows up to become a member of the Starfleet Enterprise now played by Chris Pine but is grounded due to his lack of discipline.

A friend of his named Leonard "Bones" McCoy now played by Karl Urban, helps him to get onto the ship and become a member of the crew. Meanwhile, Spock now played by Zachary Quinto struggles to balance his logical thinking from his Vulcan side and his emotional thinking from his human side whilst as Captain of the crew.

We also meet the rest of the crew including Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, Simon Pegg as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Zoe Saldana as Uhura. When Spock loses his mother and Kirk teaches him about his emotions rather than play to his emotions from his human side, he strangles Kirk but is forced to let go and thinks more logically about the human emotions which makes Kirk have the chance to take over as captain and prove himself.

Finally we get our villain, Captain Nero played Eric Bana who whilst being over-the-top at times, he was still a great villain and his job is to reverse time. Leonard Nimoy also makes a cameo as Spock Prime, the original Spock.

What I liked about this movie is so many things: Firstly, all the actors have begun to step into the shoes of the original actors and characters which is great. We get to see all the characters learning to interact together as it was their origin story.

The CGI was one of the best, the story is solid, the action scenes were also great and this is one of the movies that perfected the time travel storyline along wit the first two Terminator movies. Star Trek (2009) has to get a 10/10 because it would be a crime to give this movie a lower rating.
