Review of Star Trek (2009) by Mo B — 18 Jun 2016
Star Trek is the eleventh Star Trek film and the first of the Reboot/Sequel/Prequel series. The film is about a Romulan mad man named Nero who wants Revenge against Spock and vows to destroy Vulcan and Earth and the Enterprise is the only thing that can stop him.
This movie is excellent. The entire cast is perfect for these new re imagined roles of the original cast and crew. The film is directed brilliantly and pays homage to the previous series yet at the same time has its own identity.
The movie has a good story even if it isn't anything new and has been done similarly in the past with other movies as well as previous Trek movies but it works well for this movie. The cast is excellent and deliver great and funny performances as well as make their roles their own.
The visuals are absolutely breath taking and the best of the series so far which is to be expected. The action is amazing as well and the effect for warp speed is handled so brilliantly. The only gripe I can find in the movie personally is that Nero isn't exactly an amazing villain and can be rather generic at times but he served the story well and propelled it forward to where it needed to go.
Overall this is a great film for die hard Star Trek fans as well as new comers. Overall 5/5.
