Rewatching this with my son, who knew almost nothing about Star Trek, but still enjoyed it immensely. A really good remake. Exiting as a stand alone film, but also schock full of references to the earlier iterations.

Sort of wondering if the gaps in the plot was an homage to the original scripts of the TV series...
