Review of Standing Ovation (2010) by Suzanne B — 10 Jul 2010
Standing Ovation is a great summer "tweens" movie of triump over adversity that will keep you clapping, crying, tapping your feet and overall exhilarated thru the entire film. It is impossible to sit thru this movie without smiling.
There is a kids character for every child to relate and parents will not go to this film kicking and screaming fearing they will be bored. In fact, the parents will probably want to go back a second time to remember some of the anectodal messages.
The cast is authentic and talented and harkens back to the old theme of Westside Story between the Sharks and Jets except this time its young girls called the Ovations and the Wiggies using talent and song competition with no fear of foul language or sexual innuendo.
Take the kids and just sit back and enjoy.......and smile!
