Review of Standing in the Shadows of Motown (2002) by Juliette G — 16 Sep 2008
A fascinating and thoughtful look at the men responsible for creating some of the most memorable American music of the 20th century, "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" takes viewers on a journey of discovery as they meet the musicians known as "The Funk Brothers".
These men were the musical backbone of Motown records and played on every recording the label made for almost fifteen years - between 1961 and 1971 they provided the music on an incredible 110 top ten hits.
Touching, insightful and entertaining from start to finish, this documentary is certainly worth checking out. Highly recommended.
