Review of Stander (2003) by Hm F — 02 Jun 2012
Crime movie with a twist features a solid lead performance from Thomas Jane, however he becomes less interesting as the movie moves along. The first half of the film is more interesting as we see Stander transform from cop to criminal and the movie delves into the issue of apartheid.
Once Stander breaks out of prison and starts robbing banks in the gang, the movie never really distinguishes itself from other crime thrillers. Deborah Unger (beautiful as ever) starts out strong but disappears from the movie sadly.
Worth watching and satisfies on a basic action level, but it could have been much more.
