Review of Standard Operating Procedure (2013) by Julie M — 21 Sep 2008
A very strong work from Errol Morris that attempts to make sense of the prisoner abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib. The film is technically incredible (although some of the reenactments are rather silly), and Danny Elfman's full-bodied, propulsive musical score is a huge plus.
Overall, while not quite on the level of "Mr. Death" or "The Fog of War," "S.O.P." is still a fine, haunting film.
