Review of Standard Operating Procedure (2013) by Derrick D — 30 May 2009
Errol Morris is a living legend in the world of documentary filmmaking. That been said, Standard Opertaing Procedure, which focuses on the treatment of prisoners in Abu Ghraib and the military personnel assigned to "interrogate" them, becomes very redundant and dry after a while.
While the subject matter is certainly important, current and at times unsettling, this is not one of Morris' better films. The visual imagery and composition of the film is very well done.
