Review of Standard Operating Procedure (2013) by Jonathan H — 09 Sep 2009
Well-edited interviews with soldiers caught in the political web of war in Iraq. Apparently. The reenaction scenes (which make up most of the film, apart from the photos and the interviews) that stitch this quasi-document together are bound to have a strong emotional impact on the viewer and that gives the film its flow.
I found it hard, though, to trust the interviewees sometimes, or take them seriously. Really, were these your motives? Or are you trying to redeem yourself in our eyes? Informative. What else can I say?
