Review of Stand Up Guys (2012) by Conrad K — 30 Nov 2013
This film doesn't really take off until Alan Arkin makes his appearance about 45 mins into it. Unfortunately, he's only in it for maybe 20 mins., but it's a very funny 20 mins. The rest of the film wanders all over the place, trying to decide where to settle.
Is it an old time gangster film...an attempt at a remake of "Goodfellas"...or just an attempt to resurrect the careers of a bunch of old actor who really don't look that good in HD close-ups? There is some entertainment here, but only 20 mins of it stretched out over 95 mins.
