Review of Stand Up Guys (2012) by Critic M — 02 Jan 2014
"Stand Up Guys" has a group of incredibly talented actors in a film that should have never been made. The film is about Walken, Pacino and Arkin (very briefly), having old man problems and doing slightly rebellious things. The supporting actors are terrible, with the exception of Bill Burr, who is a great actor and comedian. The script is weak and filled with painful cliches. How this piece of crap ever saw the light of day is beyond me.
The premise is appealing and the trailer made it look like a potential hit, but this picture was far from a success. These iconic actors are above this kind of film, I feel like they all lost a bet and these roles were the price that had to be payed. I'm a huge fan of Christopher Walken, Al Pacino and Alan Arkin, just not a fan of this film.
This is a B-movie that somehow managed to get A-list actors.
