Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Matthew L — 23 Sep 2011
Okay so I was only 5 when this was released, however its one of those films that shaped my adolescent love of cinema and 25 years later (at the time of writing) I still have a deep affection for this film.
In a day and age where the majority of child actors deserve a slap in the face there is still something enduringly appealing about the quartet. It's their film and they earn every moment on screen, yes the coming of age story has been done to death but this is damn near perfect.
If you know anyone who hasn't seen this film I suggest you get hold of them and make an evening of it, this is one of the few films that needs to be seen by everyone.
