Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Brian E — 30 Mar 2012
An excellent coming of age story featuring a talented young cast, a well adapted screenplay based on a novella by Stephen King, and engaging direction by Rob Reiner. The visual elements of the film are also especially impressive, capturing the late 50s/early 60s in an authentic, small town way. Reiner was able to effectively convey emotion and a sense of bewilderment that really sets Stand by Me apart from other similar films.
