Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Brad S — 05 Jul 2013
Simply one of the best coming of age movies ever. Director Rob Reiner captured magic in a jar with this story. The cast is perfect, the locations are perfect, the music is perfect. Every viewing of this movie takes me back to childhood memories of those fun times with friends.
Those times that didn't seem all that special then, but do now. A truly great film that will forever occupy a special place in my heart. And River Phoenix's tragic early death only makes it that much more poignant when watching his Chris Chambers character disappear on screen at the end.
Cinema doesn't get any better than this.
