Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Stefan G — 24 Aug 2013
This is a unique movie with a truly raw, likeable main cast. Unlike many movies set in the 50's, it eschews from the nostalgic, saccharine grandeur in favour of a realistic depiction. The characters really come alive in the film, and the film can be funny sometimes.
It's a genuine tale of four boys coming of age in a way that Hollywood is too afraid to show again, and what it offers is something that's truly worth watching.
