Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Brandon W — 16 Nov 2016
Stand By Me is directed by Rob Reiner, and it stars Will Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland in a coming-of-age drama about a group of friends that hang out during the summer, and they want to go on a search for a missing child.
Out of all the famous films by director Rob Reiner, I didn't expect this film to be the last for me to watch and review it, as I heard that it's basically the first well known that shows what kids actually act like when they're hanging out with friends.
In all honesty, I should've watched it sooner as this is a classic to watch. This is the best group of kid actors that I've seen in years as they acted like regular kids, but not the annoying kinds.
The writing by Bruce A. Evans and Raynold Gideon understands what kids talk like, saying curse words, smoking cigarettes, and about women in general, which they give off some memorable lines. The characters are memorable as they give enough development that got me to learn more about them.
The plot is very interesting, and it has enough humor in it that keeps me interested in what's going on. I honestly never seen this type of film before that plays it as it is, and I'm glad I finally got to watch this terrific movie.
