Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Campbell P — 19 Feb 2015
Stand By Me is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Going into this movie I knew I was gonna like it as soon as I met Gordy, Chris, Teddy, and Verne. The cast of this film had some of the best chemistry I've seen between any characters.
They made me laugh, think, and cry. Stand By Me is based off the Stephen King novel "The Body" and it's about 4 kids set out to find the body of Ray Baur (think that's how it's spelled) and end up creating a stronger bond together than ever.
This adventure was really heartwarming and realistic. The dialogue is how a preteen would talk when they're alone with friends and the way they act is very kiddish too. The characters were super likable and funny I can't even stress it enough.
The struggles they encounter are fun to watch especially the scene when they think they're in the presence of coyotes. The realistic factor this has about growing up and how friends come and go is very heartwarming and tearjerking.
All the kids had a tragic background that haunted them especially Gordy who thinks his parents loathe him after the lost of his beloved brother Denny. Stand By Me is a masterpiece. The characters were great, the story was heartwarming and touching, the affect this movie left me with just stays.
Love this film. A.
