Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Ava B — 21 Nov 2017
Stand By Me is an astounding movie based on the novella "The Body" by Stephen King. It is about four boys who are in secret competition against bullies to find the body of a boy who was killed by a train. On the way, they face terrifying dangers in scenes that made mine and will make your heart pound for the safety of the adorable characters from this movie.
My favourite character is Gordie Lachance (played by Wil Wheaton) because he seems shy and is funny, but at one unexpected moment he takes up courage to defend his friend. Gordie's best friend Chris is the complete opposite: he is brave and sneaky. You can definitely see Gordie's character develop into someone like Chris, and their relationship grows deeper and better.
I find the overall storyline intriguing, amusing and exciting. Each character visibly develops into a better person. Additionally, there is a wide range of emotions spread out throughout the movie, but, in a good way.
The style of the movie is fun with a bit of swearing but a really nice flow to the film making it interesting and very realistic in the sense that you cannot tell that they are acting.
I recommend this film for people who like adventure movies perhaps over the age of 9 or 10 may be more appropriate, but I must say that this has to be one of my favourite movies.
