Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Calvin C — 30 Jun 2012
Rob Reiner is really good at capturing a certain time in America, in this case the 1950s. A memorable coming of age film about 4 young boys going on a journey to find a dead body in the last days of summer. The four leads are fantastic and it is so hard these days to find child actors who can act. The music is great and small, but pivatol roles from Richard Dreyfuss and Kiefer Sutherland make the film that more interesting. I can see why it is a popular movie all these years later.
Grade: A-.
