Jaime Escalante is my hero. I am a Latina, first-generation American born, to parents who came here illegally to pick crops.... I related to EVERYTHING in the movie, down to the chaos at home. Those of you who think it is stereotypical, remember, stereotypes come from some truths.

My mother only expected me to get through high school without getting pregnant and even my own guidance counselor told me NOT to study Mathematics.... I love math. It make sense and this movie, their story, reminds me that I am not the only person judged because of my last name, or the extra brown in my skin.
