A story about a teacher and his students and how he helped change their lives. I'm not sure what movies were the first of their kind on this subject, but this was based on a true story and it's one of the best of them.

I know I've seen a lot of films that have a similar story line that came out after this. The 1990s had a bunch of films with this angle. It's a great watch and if you haven't seen it you should.
