Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Antonio M — 31 May 2007
Billy Wilder is a master at films like this, Some Like it Hot, and others that contain equal parts comedy and sadness. Not so much an anti-war film as an anti-hate film, played at large against the backdrop of WW2 and in microcosm in the story of the prisoners of war at the heart of the film.
Great performances and memorable characters.
