Review of Stake Land (2010) by Tom P — 16 Nov 2011
This movie was a pleasant surprise. It makes no romantic notions about have to survive in a post-apocalyptic world and is very brutal and harsh. There's no over stylized action scenes, and the cinematography is just very gritty, bleak and depressing.
The soundtrack is actually quite good and fits the film perfectly. The only thing that stops this from being a great movie is the anti-climatic ending, which could have been done better with a Voice Over [seeing that they were doing voice over narration for the entire film I see no reason to stop at a critical point in the story arc].
