Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Carlos O — 24 Oct 2008
Orson Welles once said that he had three favorite directors: John Ford, John Ford and John Ford. Watching this film, it's not hard to see why. With "Stagecoach," Ford creates the template not only for the great American western, but for the modern action genre.
This brsikly paced action drama is filled with interesting characters and situations, and Ford's eye for a good shot was unparralled at the time. The stellar cast includes John Wayne in his first big role, and it's not to see how he became a star.
