Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Patrick S — 31 May 2009
A classic western that's akin to Above the Law in setting the template for the classic John Wayne character like Above the Law setting the template for the classic Steven Seagal character. But this is better than any Steven Seagal movie, it's like one of those seasons of the Real World with different class and occupations and genders hanging around and being attacked by those damn, dirty Apaches.
The one big flaw is that after the coach ride is over, the movie continues for another 20 minutes resolving some plot point. And it's not as good as what followed, mostly cause it's overlong and we want this movie to end but it has to act like The Energizer Bunny and kepp going and going and going.
