Review of Stage Beauty (2004) by Chris W — 30 Mar 2005
There's so much to enjoy in "Stage Beauty" but all those embellishment and jubilation deliquesces promptly as if all of the travails they generate as a whole are rather philosophically thin in the end.
And since the casts are portraying antithetic(Billy Crudup) and approbative(Claire Danes) roles, we often give them nothing but an applaud fogetting the fact that their performances are just an average; but is often pushed to excellent.
The good thing is that "Stage Beauty" pampers us with delight through directing, costumes, rational imagination and above all the sui generis story.
