Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Andrew M — 02 Jul 2016
The film is almost exactly what you'd expect from the trailer. Murray plays a mean man, down on his luck, who starts to look after his new neighbour's kid as a way to make a bit of money, and it turns out there's more to him than just that.
As such, this doesn't really tread any new ground, and it does get into sweet charm perhaps a bit too much. Bill Murray is amazing in this, and it is very sincere and well filmed. This just goes to show that if you're not doing anything really new, at least do it well.
