Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Anthony T — 30 Dec 2014
I went into this film expecting an average mildly funny comedy that I would forget all about the day after watching it. But what I got instead was a hilarious film with a great performance by Bill Murray and surprisingly a very heart warming and sentimental theme that I did not see coming.
The jokes used in this film were pretty funny, when they hit I laughed quite a lot and that is due to the nature of Vincent, Bill Murray's character being so negative that when he makes a joke it really adds to the effectiveness of it.
Speaking of hilarious characters Bill Murray showed that he still has amazing acting talents as he hits it out of the park with this performance, he really gets you to love this seemingly unlovable character and that itself is an achievement.
Melissa McCarthy and Jaeden Lieberher as mother and son also put in some really funny performances that only help the film be better. This film surprised me by being a lot funnier than I expected and more emotional as it shows you this very interesting relationship between Vincent and Oliver.
- 7.7.
