Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Marcus M — 16 Feb 2015
While it's nice to see Melissa McCarthy play against type, St. Vincent is nothing that hasn't been see many time before. The story of the jaded old man who is saved by their connection to a young kid is a tired old trope that has been done better than in St.
Vincent. There is also an element of the born again Christian film that leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. As long as it stays away from its conversion message, which it thankfully mostly does, St.
Vincent is a nice little film about seeing the best in people.
