Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Michael U — 22 Feb 2015
Bill Murray is officially great in everything I've seen him in. He seems like the kind of actor who would annoy me but he comes through every time with grace. St. Vincent is no exception. I don't understand why he wasn't nominated for awards for this...other than maybe he's playing the same kind of person in different situations.
Melissa McCarthy is someone who is way overexposed right now but I guess strike while the iron's hot. Here she doesn't play the same character which is a relief.
Now, onto the movie. All the characters are well thought out and the movie itself is touching and a little unexpected. Sure there are a couple of holes in the plot. Why would you trust your kid to the mean next door neighbor type stuff but good reasoning put aside you'll enjoy this.
