Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Libero S — 12 Dec 2014
St Vincent is a comedy-drama all fans of Bill Murray must see, Murray gives, in my opinion, one of his finest performances of his career in addition to this there are two standout performances by McCarthy and Lieberher.
Although the plot isn't exactly anything we haven't seen before, it manages to avoid stumbling over the hurdle of cliché. Perhaps a little too focused on generating sympathy for Murray's character, although the character he creates is tragic yet at the same time rather loveable.
This is a film which can be seen solely for Murray's performance, this is before considering the supporting roles and great directing in his debut film by Ted Melfi, the only problem I have with the film is the emotional strings that are being tugged throughout, nethertheless an enjoyable picture.
4/5.
