Review of St. Vincent (2014) by Twig T — 04 Feb 2015
Acting like a mash up of a considerably less violent Gran Torino and The Way, Way Back, this tells the story of a grumpy old man and a boy being taught some life lessons. Its not as successful as those films in its goal, but it does work.
Bill Murray is great and has a few comedic moments, Naomi Watts could of lost the Russian accent and her performance wouldn't of made much difference, anyone could of acted the way she did. Its also worth pointing out that this isn't an all out comedic turn for Melissa McCarthy and its very much welcome.
Overall though the film was watchable. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again though.
