Review of St Trinian's (2007) by Louise D — 15 Apr 2009
This light hearted family film is seriously hilarious. It's great for a grips night in or afternoon movie.
Gemma Arterton who plays head girl Kelly is amazing. She fits the part extreamly well and I can't see anyone else playing her.
Also Annabel Fritton does extreamly well in making the change from new shy quiet girl into St Trinnian.
Although I do have one thing I've always felt about this film. The part of Flash was never built for Russel Brand. It belongs to Johnny Depp. Most definatly. The part it's self is a kind of Jack Sparrow part. Try anything to get away with something dangerous, naughty or illegal. I feel Russel Brand based himself on Jack Sparrow for this role and that enforces my thinking further. It's as if writer had Depp in mind when creating the part but when casting came, Depp couldn't or wouldn't play the part so Brand was called in and awarded the role.
However all in all a good movie and a great laugh, good for cheering anyone up when they're down, but I will say it is more of a girls movie.
