This is the kind of 3-D that everyone complains about, they repeatedly bounce/ throw/ shove things in your face. It is like the movie wants to say "look at what I can do".
Combined with a bad story, bad acting, and terrible direction, I am being charitable in my rating. I didn't take it as offensively bad, but I understand those who do (I save my half star ratings for such films).
This was just one more attempt to milk the franchise for every dollar, and the people in charge thought that the 3-D would be a good way to draw in the crowd.
