Review of Spy (2015) by Tyler S — 07 Mar 2017
Laugh out loud action comedy, as Melissa McCarthy absoultley steals the scene. Not only does she have acting chops, but her blend of comedy just works, and really makes me laugh. Her clutzy, silly, don't really fit it type humor here is so perfect for this type of overcome the odds comedy. She works for the CIA and is thrown into the action when she has to go undercover on a serious mission. Jason Statham appears and had me rolling with his vulgar one liners, and his sense of badassness. Rose Byrne was halarious and she played an evil vixen, who was steady and relentless but pretty funny in most of her scenes when she blurted out vulgarities. The writing was so good for this comedy as all the lines that were delivered were halarious and unexpected. The funny vulagaries caught me off guard, and were unique. You also have some silly action that is really fun to watch.
I would give it 4 stars but it's hard for me to rate comedies high. I just rarely do it.
I recommend this film though for sure as it will make you laugh.
