Review of Spy (2015) by Frederic C. B — 26 Apr 2016
The Good:
Eventhough this movie clearly is a hillarious parody of the genre that produces genuine laughters throughout, it also feel like a full-blown genuine spy movie with amazing action pieces and global adventures. The final outcome might be quite predictable, but there are tons of twist and turns that will surprise audience and keeps the gears running at a refreshing pace. This movie is able to utilize Melissa McCarthy comedic prowess to the optimum, because she steals almost every scene she's in without any difficulties, unlike some of her previous works. Fantastic and mindblowing performances by most if not every supporting cast, in particular Jason Statham and Peter Serafinowicz's.
The Not-so-Good:
The start might be a bit slow and too serious, that it does take a while before the movie gets into its groove. There are some adult/inappropriate jokes that might not seem necessary, and instead drag the movie a bit.
