"Spy" was probably the one big comedy of the summer that really made me laugh out loud. Unlike "Ted 2," it was original, witty, and featured some actual storytelling as opposed to constant one-liners.

Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig are proving their working relationship is better than the speed bump they hit last year with "Tammy." Throughout the entire film, McCarthy is consistently funny, and not always in that shticky way that has characterized her other major roles, like "Bridesmaids" and "Mike & Molly.

" Not only is McCarthy funny, but Feig manages to make Jason Statham a genuine comedic goldmine, something I never would have thought possible. His comedic timing was probably the best part of the entire film.

And finally, unlike most comedies, this seemed to have real stakes- it felt like a real spy thriller, on par with the likes of "Mission Impossible" and "James Bond," but with more hilarity that any spy film I've ever seen.

I hope to see more from Feig and McCarthy in the future- hopefully the "Ghostbusters" reboot will prove fruitful.
