Review of Spun (2003) by Dave K — 07 Feb 2009
A lot better than Requiem for a Dream, even though I bet the director would prefer I not make that comparison. It's a lot lighter, and.... Well, I enjoyed the characters a lot more, and I didn't feel like shit the entire time. Don't get me wrong, there's some bleak and uncomfortable shit going on here, but it's presented in a much more palatable way, without being unrealistic or cartoony. The editing's fantastic, and I guess that's helped by the fact that the director made music videos before directing this.
Um... The acting's really good, and I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. It's damn good.
