Review of Spun (2003) by Hunter S — 24 May 2009
Huh, apparently I had marked this as "want to see" and then forgot it existed.
I hate to quote IMDB forums, but it's only the title, so:
The title of one of the IMDB threads for this movie was "Requiem for a Spun-spotting," and while I don't know if that's totally fair, I would have to say that this, well, owes a lot to previous drug movies. I saw the "rated" version, which seems to differ from the "unrated" version in that it blurs/beeps/black boxes some of the bits. I'm not complaining.
There's some effective moments here, and a lot that's pretty hard to watch. Also, Mickey Rourke's character is surprisingly "pre-reminiscent" of his role in The Wrestler.
