Review of Spring Forward (2000) by Sv G — 01 Apr 2008
A man (Liev Schreiver) fresh out of prison, defensive yet longing for a life that's worth living gets hired to work with an older man (Ned Beatty) who is nearing retirement in a parks service job in New England.
Both men are in need of someone to talk to & ohhh boy do they talk (and talk and talk). With all this talk going on (sometimes interesting - but often akward and not so interesting) this is really a VERY sedate film.
BUT I am happy I hung in there as once you are past the first half hour (or so) the dialog and the action picks up a little even heading on towards a brief exciting moment at the end Very introspective & philosophical.
Sort of a 'My Dinner with Andre' type movie for the blue collar set. Over all? I liked it. Not loving - but liking. Nice performances by both the ever-wonderful Mr. Beatty and Liev Schreiber. They managed to pull a tear or two from me by the end.
