Review of Spring Breakers (2013) by Lewis E — 16 Jan 2014

Frequent use of close-ups, slow-motion and montages gives 'Spring Breakers' a unique, artistic atmosphere but also makes it difficult to watch sometimes so you'll find yourself drifting in and out.

I get the sense that there is a decent plot underneath all the lewd behaviour, Franco's best rapper impression and Gucci Mane's lacklustre acting but it got lost with the film-makers trying to make it too surreal.

Still, the four main girls are in bikinis for practically all of it so it's hard to complain too much.
