Review of Spring (2014) by Anthony K — 12 Apr 2015
I almost thought that the thinks-it's-clever, college-dorm-level script would kill this movie for me entirely, but it doesn't. In fact, it mostly works. There's a nice "Before Sunrise"-esque vibe, with a romantic horror element involved. Think Twilight, in the sense that the horror adds to the romantic aspect (tragically, I'm a monster! But do you still love me?), but undoubtedly more "mature". The locale, too, just sparkles. I can't even imagine how much it cost to shoot in Cinque Terre.
Other than that, the tone is uneven and again the script is real weak. Some really ropey CG monster effects, too, but at least the creativity in design makes up somewhat.
