Review of Spread (2009) by Bill B — 15 Jan 2010
Watched this for review, and I can assure you, the phrase 'sexy comedy' is amazingly misleading. There are a few lines that are meant to be funny, but this is far from a comedy.
Kutcher puts on this bizarre gravelly voice that makes him sound like Matthew McConaughey's surfer drawl in need of a lozenge, the guy's supposed to be a hustler, but he's been doing it for years and has not a dime to his name to show for it, living of the rich women of LA.
We're meant to feel for him as he develops any sort of caring for a woman in the latter half of the film, but it's pretty pointless.
There's lots of pretty people frequently naked, so that's a plus, but overall there's noting to really connect with here.
Pass, unless you're just a fan of Kutcher's, and if you are, why?
