Review of Spread (2009) by Kathleen P — 17 Feb 2010
Meet Ashton Kutcher, the world's worst person next to communist dictators and child labor sweat shop owners. I never really liked Ashton to begin with, but this movie makes you actively detest him.
He plays this arrogant, metrosexual-esque mooch in every sense of the word. What he does is he seduces a variety of different high-success women for short-term relationships, gets them to trust him enough so he can leech off of them, then moves onto the next one like a maniacal parasite, because he doesn't have any money or place of his own to speak of.
That's. About. It. It's just him working every angle he can with these ladies, living off of his good looks and just being an all-around terrible human being. I mean really, does morality mean NOTHING to these people? He's just so much of a douche bag that he's just impossible to like; you're actively rooting against him throughout the entire movie.
When the story finally gets to wrapping up, it completes one of the least believable character arcs I have ever seen; the whole movie is so shallow and materialistic, the ending is impossible to buy. And I thought the kids in The Informers were amoral.
