Review of Spotlight (2015) by Will B — 26 Mar 2016
Usually movies about a true story of a scandal that happened or even something small that happened are boring or typical and nothing new from the last. But rarely you'll get one that actually is made well or even great. It takes a great cast, a director who keeps things going and a story that is actually worth making a movie for. With Spotlight, you have a cast that is top notch, mostly Mark Ruffalo caught my eye the most, a story that people either don't remember or didn't pay attention to and a script and director that keep the story going at swift pace.
The movie keeps going and doesn't really let up. Even in scenes that not much happens, you're paying attention because what is being said is intriguing and with how quick the story unfolds you may miss a detail. What really makes this great is that it doesn't just bring a light to the reporters but also the victims and those involved and the courage it took to talk about this issue. At times it was almost hard to listen to some of the stories because of the detail it goes into. That's what makes it what it is though. This is worth watching because it isn't just a brush over type movie that is trying to cash in on a story, it takes care of what happened and shows us the how hard it is to get the full story no matter the cost.
