Review of Spontaneous (2020) by Papeadojhon — 07 Oct 2020
This movie is relentlessly clever, it juggles genres and ideas with inventiveness and originality. It was released in the proper period setting, 2020 has been such and unpredictable year with so many unprecedented events, it makes the message of the movie be more resonant and relatable. The romance was really charming and the acting of the two leads was on point.
The first half of the film was actually so good I was in awe as it went on. The second half, however, was more difficult to process, the pacing suffered. But as a whole, it's just something to highly recommend.
The contrast between the crowded disposable teen rom-coms with this particular one, makes me aprecciate it way more, it's just something different and good, although it can't help but feel like it borrows a few things from other movies, this one feels fresh.
Check it out, and I hope it turns out to be so thought-provoking and touching as it was for me.
