Review of Split Second (1992) by David K — 24 Oct 2007
Oh what a downward slide Rutger Hauer has been on since the incredible "BladeRunner." Worse and worse movies, and only recently passed by Wesley Snipes as the King of Crappy Direct-to-DVD movies.
But this is a GREAT crappy movie! Rutger is THE most burned-out cop of burnt-out cops, working in a post-global-warming flooded London, and is searching for a Ripper-type killer who predictable had killed his former partner.
He lives on "anxiety, coffee and chocolate," having given up drinking. His new partner is a predictable goofy intellectual sidekick to Rutger's world-weary cynic. AND Rutger has some kind of psychic connection with the killer, knowing generally where and when the next killing will be.
Lots of big guns, hysterically bad dialogue and Rutger is constantly seeking caffeine. A really fun BAD movie.
