Review of Split (2017) by Harold A — 15 Apr 2017
I believe Split didn't live up to it's storyline, the premise of a man with 23 personalties hiding 3 teens in a basement with him still able to interact in the real world made it seem like Split was gonna be my favorite movie.
Unfortunately I think Shyamalan missed a big opportunity. Split began to fall flat a quarter way through the movie, nothing was evolving. There was suppose to be a climax to the "beast" coming out but it really all bunched up into the end.
The last 20 minutes of the film was what was anticipated and overall I enjoyed the ending, including the unbreakable 2 tease, but I wish it would've been stretched out a bit to fill in the mediocre middle.
Although not living up to my expectations, I really enjoyed learning about the different personalties and James McAvoy did an amazing job portraying each. I was excited whilst watching purely because of the concept, which overall made it a nice movie experience.
