Review of Split (2017) by Drfootfoe . — 19 Aug 2017
Split Film Review By Logan Coleman.
Spilt is the latest psychological thriller by M. Night Shyamalan, the film is definitely has moments of intense terror and I was surprised by the comedic elements of the film. I would say that my issues deal the way they use child abuse and mental illness as part of the story line. The mental illness that I am talking about is dissociative identity disorder, if you are expecting the disorder medically correct, it is not. With this in mind James McAvoy's performance as Kevin and his twenty-three other personalities, will hopefully be nominated for an Oscar next season for best actor. The performances by Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, and Jessica Sula were good.
I would describe Split as a spiritual sequel to M. Night Shyamalan's previous film Unbreakable. The only other concern I would give parents who want to take their pre-teen children, be warned there is cannibalistic element to this film even though it is PG-13. I can hopefully a sequel to Unbreakable because of the ending, spoiler David Dunn. This is a return to form for M. Night Shyamalan, it is probably his third best film he has made yet. I am giving this film three and 1/2 stars out four!
